Is it just me or has people in adverts started gesticulating a lot more?

I've noticed it in quite a few adverts when one person is talking about a product there appears to be more hand movements and it often doesn't seem to fit with the way they are describing or discussing a product, Micheal Parkinson's (tacky) life insurance advert springs to mind.

TV ad prices go down with the rise of the internet > cheaper ads can be made > ads are of a lower quality > cheaper director who doesn't care about hand flappiness > actors flap about > you post on AB about it, generating more ad impressions online :)

Lol Ed, but I think they do it deliberately, I think they are directed to do it, maybe I'm wrong.
Well it's more natural isn't it. Maybe that's the in fashion in advertising these days. Appear like your friend is letting you in on something.
Do you think there will be enough revenue from advertising to keep all the tv channels going? After all, how many of us sit and watch the ads these days? I skip through them.
It's changing the subject but I'd be happier with fewer channels and something decent to watch on the ones that remained.
Oh, yes, sorry for going off topic.

TV advertising is still effective for those of a certain age - and it does have its place.

.... but not on my TV!

I don't know what the future of TV is, but it's likely to incorporate a on-demand netflix-style streaming option. For example, if the BBC replaced all their channels with one which gave you access to all their programmes via the iPlayer, O_G's dream of having something decent to watch may just happen (assuming part of the problem is scheduling).

4OD and the ITVplayer have ads - the are intrusive and stupid, but it might be the future.

That - or you'll subscribe individually. I'd pay for CH4 without ads (probably not ITV though).
Not sure I'd subscribe to Channel 4 and of course there would be the problems of piracy with any subscription channel or programme.

It will be interesting to see what happens to tv over the next few years.
