Me and my mum visited someone at the weekend (separately) and both of us have become concerned about the animals in their house.
I have lost track of how many adult cats there in the house,it was 3 but I think it is down to one.
This one adult female had a litter 26 weeks ago and now also has a litter of 2 week old kittens.
All the older kittens are still in the house as the house owner hasn't been able to find homes for them and now there is this new litter.
The horrible thing is the older child in the house(7 yr old) has told both me and my mum that her 2yr old nephew who also lives in the house has killed two of the kittens. I asked her he killed them and she said by picking them up by the neck.
while my mum was in the house there was an awful yowling noise from one of
the kittens from upstairs and the house owner dashed upstairs but came back down and was making nothing of it.
the 7 yr old was walking around with one of the 2 week old kittens and was even going to take it outside in the cold to show her friend. (am i right in thinking you shouldn't even handle kittens of this age too much )
My mum was handed one of the smaller kittens and she said it felt like it was barely alive .(whether it was the one who was yowling earlier I'm not sure)
What should we do. The kittens are obviously not in the right place for their welfare but as we hardly go round to this house I think it will be so obvious we have done the reporting if the RSPCA come knocking.

you must report this and the kittens will be removed and looked after until they find new homes, the older cats can be neutered and the family can resume normal living, speak to someone at the RSPCA and tell them the whole story after all the 7yr old could have told her teacher or a class mate, but please just don't leave those poor kittens to suffer, if you cant bring yourself to make the call get a good friend to do it, if it is worrying you enough to post on here then you must do it and soon please.
Jen, not an enviable position to be in but I think you know what you need to do. Good luck.
Ha!

Good luck in getting the RSPCA to come out, you'll be even luckier if they even show an ounce of interest.

I'm willing to bet a fiver they won't.
Speak to your local Cats Protection, tell them what you have told us and ask for their advice. I know this is distressing for you but please do what you can to right the situation for these cats. Good luck and well done.
I am with Boo on this one.
I bet my entire priceless collection of Rupert Bear annuals that the RSPCA will not be interested.
They'll be interested if you donate loads of money!
They'd only be interested in you donating more money, preferably via direct debit. They still wouldn't be interested in even investigating this case, never mind actually helping.

You'd have to change your will.
I recently reported a dog I was worried about to the RSPCA and they did see it, eventually, I had to keep on at them and if this is what it takes, then you have to do it. Please at least try for these poor animals.
Report to the RSPCA - it's up to them what they do, but at least you'l have done your duty by those animals. Anyone can report, they wouldn't know if was you.

I have done it. Called the cats protection league first( i have had more dealings with them) and a nice lady gave me a lot of advice but said there wasn't an awful lot they could do without it actually being requested by the pet owners.
I have now called the RSPCA and they have took all the details and are going to pass it on to an officer. Hopefully she will get a visit and the poor animals in the house will get some help.
Well done Jen, hopefully the RSPCA will get their finger out.
