Adders are venomous snakes !!
Garter snakes ? But that would mean all your letters are wrong ?
Just a guess !!
thanks boxtops, knew adders was wrong

The Milk Snake is also known as the Milk Adder
thanks baldric, thinking of the adder as a poisonous UK snake ?
Thanks Baldric

Thank you all, apologies for not getting back sooner but there was a
Power Cut in our area.
Question Author
Hi folks, athough I think Boxtops' Amaura is the correct answer to the
question.
I think the setter of the crossword made a mistake ~ because there is a D in the
answer ~ the answer to 10a across A celebration of James Joyce and
'Ulysses' held annually in Dubin on June 16 is:- BloomsDay.
So now I have to decide if I should post this or NOT.
Thank you all for your help.

PC
Bloomsday looks okay. Are you saying this gives you a D in 7d?
If you forget AMAURA what letters do you have for 7d?
Question Author
Thank you Factor-fiction7d A?d?r? ~ that D works in with bloomsday and Bloomsday works
in with the answers to the other clues.
By the way Factor-fiction that is a lovely colourful day in Dublin with
people wearing period costume.
They are called adders in North America
Definitely adders then
Question Author
