I am all for the idea put forward by Osborne, work for benefits. We are all in this together, how about making the Mps work for their expenses and benefits.

can't wait.
I am reminded when Margaret Thatcher announced the exact same thing twenty years ago. There was a publicity stunt on the telly of Maggie picking up litter from Finchley Common.

What it failed to mention was the common was actually immaculate as always that day. Party activists had run around half an hour before she arrived desperately littering with rubbish they had brought with them.
Just a populist soundbite
but like all governments theyll go through with it no matter the cost , then a few years down the line it gets scrapped and the true cost , which you can be sure will be far more that it was supposed to save will become known

totally unworkable (pun intended !) an administative black hole on all levels and at every turn

Sounds like a good idea. We can have half the workshy running around dropping the litter, and the other half picking it up.
A friend who was made redundant is now doing voluntary work whilst searching for a post.
Surely of more use to society than litter picking?
Interesting points made earlier...

They can cycle or walk to the Job Centre everyday - does this include those who are physically unable to do so, but because ATOS has declared them fit for work (they have a finger that can press a button)and kicked them off Incap onto JSA (or the new equivalent)?

Ten bus fares (or more) per week and we shall have even more deaths this winter.
Good point mamya, but then we know ATOS do not consider this,
As this will cost taxpayers money, not save it, the only point seems to be to 'punish' claimants.
As there are more jobseekers than jobs, some people, for whatever reason, will always find themselves at the back of the cue. If you have a nice steady, secure job you should be thankful and keep your fingers crossed that you're not driven into the 'unter-mensch' one day.
ah ATOS, heaven help you if you get involved with them....
..same clowns........different circus!
