He might be bored, border collies and alsatians are both intelligent, active breeds. Give him lots of exercise, toys, a bone when he's out. My puppy used to bark at everything in the garden. This was summer, so we were outside with him. He stopped when we picked him up a couple of times, without saying anything and put him in the house for a while.

I am so sorry joanne I really cannot say as my nearly 13 year old has never got out of it.! But I do hope you get some results that work. thinking of you ! Brendax

Is he/she left alone for any length of time?
Perhaps the dog is cold or hungry or seeing ghosts?
When does he bark - when he is left alone or when you are with him?
are you in all day with him, or is he shut up on his own?
what breed? where from? what training have you done? is he left alone? Gadgets just make it worse as they increase the dog's stress levels.
Ignore puppy when he is barking, as soon as he goes quiet then lavish praise and give him a treat, perseverance is the key here, have patience. Puppies learn to get attention by barking, most get ignored if they are quiet. So try the reverse here. Good luck.
Tell us when and where the puppy is barking. Is it when it's in the garden? Is it in the house?

He barks more when he is in the garden, there isn't much for him to bark at as it's very quiet here.He is a cross breed, border collie/alsation.He isn't left very often on his own
Perhaps he's bored, trying to get some attention?
put an advert in the local paper.
You need to fetch him in when he barks. People have obviously complained. You will end up losing him.

why is he in the garden on his own?
More exercise and training - being left in a garden is no life for any dog let alone one of that cross both breeds of which are intelligent dogs bred to work all day so need lots of mental and physical stimulation.
