Should I syphon off what is in the washer reservoir and start again, the bottle of screenwash I have left smells fine...but what can I use to get rid of the stench please ?

This happened to me too. I stuck a hose in the screenwash reservoir and let it run till it came out clean and sweet. The overflow does no harm that I can see. Then squirt out the water until there is room to top up with new screenwash. I think the nasty smell must be due to bacteria or similar growing in the bottle. It seems to happen when the garage tops it up at a service and it seems to be a recent problem though I did have algae growing in a transparent reservoir years ago and it clogged the jets.
It's a common problem. Do as suggested above, and then only use a good strong mix of a decent washer additive. This problem is commoner with only water or a weak washer-fluid concentration...all sorts of bacteria can grow.

That is really strange you should mention that this happened after its service, as 2 months ago I had a service and now this stench, they do fill the washer reservoir up at a service.
