Ggrr!

5d is not in the recommended Chambers 2011! I know it's in previous editions but why go to the bother of mentioning other words not in BRB??

Despite this I did enjoy this puzzle although I thought the fruit wasn't sufficiently piratical. Thanks, Samuel.

Jim360 - Agree regarding hyphenation.
Guess my comment was misleading - I said "3-4" to mean that it was a 3 letter word then a 4 letter word, rather than a single 7 letter word. Perhaps I should have said "3 and 4".
It's not hyphenated, it is 2 seperate words in my 2008 BRB.
Oh, I see -- 3,4 . Well, it's 3,4 -- or (7, two words), in C. 2011 too. Odd. Oh well.

See "iso" in Chambers, LifesABeach for 18a.
Firstly, many thanks to whoever contacted the FG (it is worse than ever this week) vicci was very pleased. Managed to finish it with thanks to the lady on the train who reads our posts but hasn't yet contributed......did encourage her to do so.
Thanks C, the Pompeii exhibition was very good indeed, a totally different view to the one one gets in Pompeii itself. Lowry, very poor, supposed to represent his whole life but had very little of his pre-war work and none of his portraiture on show, mumbled for hours about it!
