The things (5 years old) have to take something into school that represents a group they belong to - this could be a team, a group or their family (not that I know any 5 year olds that belong to a group or team). Anyway, they will have to take in something that represents 'family' and I can't think of anything (or I can't think of two things in this case). Anyone got any idea (I seem to be having a particularly stupid day today).

Not sure how sinister a babygro can be. Anyway, I am going with one of the things taking the babygro - shows links to siblings and one can take a wooden spoon to show family meals together. Not sure which thing to give to which thing (as it were) - thing 1 can't be trusted with anything valuable or loved but she also can't be trusted with a wooden spoon (she might clout someone with it).

Ha, just told himself what I had decided on and said I didn't trust thing 1 with the baby gro (too sentimental) but didn't trust her with the spoon and he said 'yeah, right, she might hit someone with it'.
Just give them a cushion each and say this is off the family sofa
Draw each a small version of a family tree, titled 'This is my Family'
Photo of family members who live far away?

Class photo from F2 - assuming they've stayed with the same children for this year.

Holiday photo or souvenir.
