TV reporters - no headgear

Has anyone ever noticed when a tv news reporters is doing an outside broadcast,whether it is raining,snowing,or even in the blistering heat,they never wear a hat or any other headgear? Watching Laurence McGinty tonight on the ITN news,in a very cold part of Canada,with a lovely thermal anorak and mittens,but no hat to stop the heat getting out of his head. Is there a reason for this?

They probably don't wear a hat because it 'hides' part of the reporters face, well the head anyway. Though if the report was about the cold or the rain than they'll want you to see the weather effects of the reporter.

Spainlads is right - covering the head gives a subconcious image of 'hiding' something - and what ever the reporter wears, it will distract the viewers from what he or she is saying.

As with the previous answers, without a reflector board to bounce light into the reporters face, a hat brim would prevent light from reaching the face and eyes.
