For the record, there is this site https://www.deceasedonline.com/servlet/GSDOSearch It doesn't include every cemetery and crematorium, but more are being added all the time. i have looked for Edward Dennis, but nothing came up. This eliminates from your search all those establishments that are included if you care to peruse the list. I then had a quick...

if he died in Fulham could you ring the crems to check their records
there is very often no actual memorial and often a simple entry in the Book of Memoriam.

Best thing you can do is find the local crematorium which serves the area where grandad died. Sometimes they will search for you. Sometimes, you have to go up there and search for yourself.

I'd start here:- http://www.lbhf.gov.uk/Directory/Community_and_Living/Birth_marriage_and_death/Burial_and_cremation/10968_Burial_and_cremation.asp
It was probably done at Mortlake, my ex's granddad lived in Isleworth and he was cremated there.

you may also find an entry in the Death Notices in the local paper, the Fulham paper is indexed up to 1991.

I then had a quick nosey at this family and if I have the correct one, Edward's father was Arthur (1886 - 1928) and his burial came up at Brompton Cemetery - the link above is for Arthur's record. You buy credits to see the burial register scan / map of grave location.
No matter if I have the wrong family, it's as good example as any other to start exploring the site!

Thank you. I rang London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, there was no record. They advised sometimes people from Fulham get cremated a few miles away in Wandsworth, at Putney Vale Cemetery. . Well I found my Grandad. Thanks for all your help :-)
