The sim card in my daughter's phone isn't working so i have to replace it.What I need to know is whether I should stay with the same network as the original sim?And will a new sim have a new phone number?

I assume it is a pay as you go phone, in which case yes you do have to stay with the same network as the phone will be locked to that network (unless you get it unlocked for about �10) and yes you will get a new number when you change the sim.

the fact that it's a payg means it's less likely to be locked to a network than a contract phone. Borrow someones elses Sim and that'll tell you if you if it's locked or not. . If you do need to get it unlocked it will only cost around �1.50 on eBay unless it's a Nokia 6500 which they all seem to be struggling with. Your Sim card is your phone number so it will always be different with a new one.
