Is it possible to find the name or and owner or occipier of a country house in the 1930s which had since changed use and ownership. I tried the cencus but without a nane it didn't work

Would a library near where the house is located have old copies of the electoral roll?

Thank you Sandy Roe. I have aready tried the archive in the place conscerned who gave me contacts for the area but having written and emailed without reply I went onto the back burner for while.
The relevant County Record Office is likely to hold old electoral rolls. Contact details for English counties can be found here:

You could also try the old property deeds search on land registry, but you might have to pay to find out.
