Hi Carrie, I'm currently taking phen caps. I started at 263lbs (about 18 stone 11) at the beginning of July and I'm down to 237lbs (about 16 stone 13) as of yesterday. I've taken phentermine too and the side effects can be horrible, dizziness, insomnia and the feeling like your tongue is three times bigger - not good! I still have a long way to go but I feel like I'm...

We used to play with caps when we were kids. We would hit them with a stone and they would go 'bang'. Is it the same thing?

... Does anyone have serious feedback??
No, certainly not into these diet pills. They are a type of amphetamine aren't they?

Well from the research I have done on them, they don't actually contain phentermine, they are more like an alternative... It says there is no side effects. I dfinitely don't want anything with phentermine in it, I tried that and the side effects were horrible, so was hoping to see if anyone tried this alternative
What's the science behind them then?
There's only one way to lose weight and that is by consuming fewer calories than you expend. Boring but true I'm afraid.
Wolf and VHG - you'll be suspended next time you jump on a user like that! Disgraceful for such usually useful members of our community.

Carrie, I do apologise - it's not how it usually goes...
You may also want to have a look over in http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Body-and-Soul/Weight-Loss-and-Dieting/ and ask about experience with supplements there. I'm afraid "diddlydo" might have the answer!
Have you been watching "The Men Who Made Us Fat", and "The Men Who Made Us Thin"? Absolutely fascinating.

Anyway, I can't remember who it was that said it but basically they were saying if there was a diet pill invented with no side effect whatsoever, then that person would have invented the greatest thing ever and would have struck gold.
There isn't though, they all have side effects. Just because something claims to be "natural" it doesn't mean it won't have any adverse effects on your health.
I honestly believe diet pills are never worth it. They won't work in the long run and a common problem with using them is heart palpitations - do you really want to rick that?

As above, as boring as it sounds, diet and exercise is the only way forward I'm afraid.
If you haven't seen those programs, check them out on the iplayer. Well worth watching before you start on any kind of "diet".

:-)
I am with diddlydo on this one

over many years I have tried various ways to lose weight and I finally found a foolproof method that has worked for me and I have lost 7 stone over the last 11 months and am still going in the right direction......my method?

eat less, move more.....simples

I wouldn't touch diet tablets, carrie - as alice says, for long term results it's a lifestyle change which is needed.

I still have a long way to go but I feel like I'm really making progress. Some people are just down on diet pills and don't get that they help you do the things you're supposed to do. I still have to work hard and go to the gym and eat less but the pills mean I'm less hungry and that I have more energy - for the first time in my life I'm doing exercise 3 or 4 times a week and actually enjoying it. I'm more motivated this time because I want to set a good example for my children, but the pills are helping me use the motivation to actually achieve something that I didn't feel possible before I started taking the pills.

There are lots of support forums out there where people won't judge you with a lot of people taking phentermine and phentermine supplements, and there are a lot of success stories too. Maybe it's not for everyone but it's working for me, so I just wanted to give you my side anyway. Good luck with whatever you decide!
