I have recently bought a DVD recorder to transfer my collection of videos ( both pre-recorded and self-recorded ) to DVD. After connecting up the scart leads I decided to try copying prerecorded rented DVDs to video and then to DVD to have my own copies. I have found that even though I have been able to copy them to video I cannot them copy them from video to DVD. Is this because they are protected? If this is the case, how are they able to be copied to video? Help please!!!

Yes the commercial videos are protected. You could obtain something like this which removes the macrovision.

Or try ebay.

Or you could search to see if there if there is a hack available to remove macrovision protection from your DVD recorder. Not something I've done so don't know how easy or difficult this is.
