I bought an Acer aspire notebook while in the US last year. The US keyboard was a pain but I got used to it. Due to me spilling some juice on it, the keyboard just will not work in spite of attempts to clean it. The notebook works fine as I can plug a usb external keyboard into it and do everything I did before y stupid accident.
Keyboards for this make and model can be bought in the UK but they are obviously a UK layout. Would this work or should I try to get a US keyboard for it?
Thanks.

Which Operating System and version? In general you should be able to plug in a UK keyboard and change the base language to English (UK). Once you have "juice" in the computer it is wise to backup your files daily and to save up for a new one.

It is Windows7 Home premium. I just want it repaired as I plan to sell it! I have bought a new laptop.
I would have thought it should be ok but you may need to set the computer to expect the UK version and use the appropriate drivers. As methyl says it may be a simple case of changing the language and it assumes the keyboard is the same. But check what settings there are in the control panel / keyboard screen.
