Are you asking if there's a probability that they're pregnant? If you've both male and female i'll bet my last fiver that they will be or soon will be, they're prolific at it!

And yes, other fish will try to snack on the babies once they come.
Yes, the other fish hang around waiting to snap up the babies. Not nice, but real life.
...and yes, you'll know when the female is pregnant, the tummy will become quite swollen.

I have put the large female guppy in a breeding tank.as there is a smaller fish think must be male, is really harnessing her. . . However she is going frantic to get out of it. And I am worried it will do her harm. The other two are constantly at the side or bottom of her tank trying to get to her. Should I leave her in there or take her out.? Many thanks
Sorry hun, only just seen this.

Boo is correct that they are prolific breeders and will harass a pregnant female... some times to death but usually lots of fin nipping.
The only real answer is to keep a single sex community. Most good fish shops should be willing to swap females for males etc with most people choosing to keep the males as they are the prettier of the two.
And yes, unless you are prepared to sit and wait for the female to give booth and move her to a breeding net, most fry will be breakfast. That said some will survive as long as there is plenty of hiding places for them [they will venture out when they know that are big enough.

divagirl. is it ok to put her back into the breeding tank as she was getting so upset in there.?
You can do, but they will try to nip at her most likely. Do you know what ratio you have of males to females?

Just had a check as I wasn't too sure, you should keep three females to one male... sort of confuses the hell out of the male and then there's less chance of a female being bullied.

when I bought the guppies they said half and half ! oh dear. Think you miss understood me. We did put her in the breeding tank but she was so upset and didnt like it so have put her back into the tank. Should we have just left her in there?
Unless you plan on raising the fry she will be fine in the main tank. It may be worth upping the number of females or getting rid of a few males.
