I'm looking to get a pay as you go sim, as in pay what you want when you want, but they seem to want you to put on £10 a month. The phone will be barely used, just for emergencies really. I don't want to be putting on £10 a month when it'll probably only use a couple of quid at most. I could be being a dimwit but I can't seem to find one.

I use Tesco, Ratty, I put on what I want when I want
You can use most tesco sims in O2 phones
you can use the O2 sim as Pay and Go, its called simplicity. My sis has one.

Thank you, that's interesting about the Tesco sim. I've looked at simplicity Woofgang but they all say 'from £* a month' the cheapest being £7.50.
I trust you tried their website ? I can not imagine they have abandoned a source of revenue. Beware that any account will need to be used before it times out and is suspended for non-use. Usually once per six months or maybe a year,
that's the least you can top up Ratty. the monthly top ups give you a bonus every month you top up, if you don't top up one month, then you don't get the freebie.

One off payment of £15 (for the sim, )which entiles you to 150 minutes per month, 250 text messages per month and 500MB data per month. NO monthly top up. On the anniversary of the month your entilement automatically renews. They us Vodafone network, been with them for about 6 months now no problems, UK based call centre. Check out their website. 2 other family members with them also. They get their income by showing small ads on the screen when you are connected on data.not intrusive at all. Worth a look.
I have this. They bombard me with texts saying I need to top up to get XYZ free. I use it so seldom that I simply ignore them, and put credit on about every 6 months.
Mosaic. you must be unlucky as I have never had a text requesting more funds , maybe because I do not go over the allowance each month. I am aware that if you go over the allowance or make calls from overseas the costs are taken from the £15 paid, perhaps they set a limit on how low the funds can be. Still think it is an excellent offer for a low user which Ratty2E seems to be.

Thanks to everyone for your help.
If your phone is unlocked then an ASDA PAYG sim card is about £1 (used to be 59pence and was then increased).Calls 10p per min and texts 8 pence with top up whenever you wish and no hassle.
