Sore Toe (Nail)

I tend to get very strong toenails and they get uncomfortable after a while if they rub on shoes but I've got one at the moment, big toe nail (the second toe, not outer side) and it's so so sore.

I had them all cut and filed down by a beautician only a couple of weeks ago - I can't reach very well but so much easier and had had a pedicure, again by a beautician, about 4 weeks before that when they were done too.

It hasn't grown long, it's just really really sore down the side. I tried to cut it away from the side a bit but had issues getting to be able to see it to cut it properly and it hasn't helped.

Went to try and book in for a pedicure earlier to see if they could help but were booked up.

Is there anything else I can do in the meantime to try and get it to be less sore? It feels like the side of the nail is cutting into the side of the nail bed.

Sounds more like an ingrowing toe nail - in my area you can do a self referal to an NHS podiatrist and they will sort it out

Thanks for that. Will see what I can sort on Monday. Part of me wants to wrap something or put something to keep it away from the neighbouring toe but think that might irritate it too. It's so sore and gone a bit throbby.

I so tried to keep them good too, getting them filed properly by someone and wearing open toed sandals to keep my feet cool.

I think they do a foot clinic at my doctors, might ring them and ask first.
I had a similar problem I cut a small V with scissors in the middle of my toe nail and gradually this filled in and relesed the ingrowing toe nail.

I went to the beauticians today and had a pedicure, the girl doing it has had ingrowing toenails herself and got the bit sticking into the side of the skin out and shaped the nail to stop it growing back that way. The skin is still tender which is understandable, especially as it was cut and bleeding the other night but it feel a lot more comfortable and I have lovely light silky feet and pretty toenails to go with it :)
Glad you got it sorted Eve
