I am trying to transfer all my pictures (4 - 500) onto a USB memory stick but my laptop (Acer Aspire 5315 on Vista) is only allowing me to transfer one picture at a time. I am sure there must be some way of transfering the whole lot at one go, but I do not know how to do so.
I would be grateful for any advice.

Assuming all of the pictures are in a folder, right click the folder. Choose copy. Open 'My computer' ( from the start menu), choose your memory stick. Open it. Right click and choose paste and it will copy the entire folder to your memopry stick assuming you have room :)
Alternatively, you can left-click your mouse on the first picture, then hold down the 'Shift' key, and then left-click your mouse on the last picture so that all selected pictures are highlighted. Next, right-click your mouse and choose "Send To" from the drop-down menu. Then another pop-up menu will appear, from which you can select your USB stick as your file destination.
Or on the view of all the photo thumbnails press ALT and A together to select all photos then ALT and C to copy then all .... then select the memory in My Computer as described above and press ALT and V to paste them all ..... but have you thought of using Flickr to archive your photos? It's free and you get a terabyte of space.
.. room for about 520,000 photos x
Picture files are no different to other files in that you can copy multiple ones in exactly the same manner using Explorer. Specifics as others have posted above.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I need to put them on a memory stick or external hard drive, as my daughter has bought me a Pogoplug Pro so that I can share my photos with others
