Do any denture wearers on here use Sea-Bond to keep their dentures in place? I wondered if I might try it, as I do not find the product I use lasts all day. I would be interested in any opinions that other denture users have.

I've used Fixodent for a number of years now but mainly for the upper denture. A very small blob at each side fairly near the centre does the trick. Adjust the quantity to suit personal requirements.
A trick I would add is to wash and dry the denture well before adding the Fixodent.
This ensures that the Fixodent adheres more strongly to the denture than the roof of your mouth and is then easily removed later along with the denture.

Thanks Wak, I've been using Fixadent for the past eight or nine months, and even adding more paste than it suggested, but I have been having to re-apply the paste before supper. I just wondered if the Sea Bond would hold the dentures in place for longer.
Have you tried the tube with the narrow spout so that you can apply lots of very narrow streaks of paste all over the denture.
I personally would have thought that a thinner coating was better than a thicker one. I don't like it when it oozes over the edges.
I use it mainly if I'm going out for lunch and don't bother too much at home.

I tried seabond but couldn't get along with it, so I use Fixodent, when was the last time your dentures were re-lined ? maybe thats what you need if you have had additions added, your gums do change shape.

I've got a dental appointment next Monday, as I need to have a tooth added on, so maybe my denture needs a check-up as it has got a bit looser recently. Thanks for your opinions.
I think Seabond is one of the most unhygienic products available! It us just a reservoir for undigested food and I know of not a single dental professional who advises their use. A visit to your GDP should give the best solution as the cause of the loose denture can be determined and remedied. There is often a better solution than simply using more fixative.

Thank you all for your answers - I'm seeing the dentist next week, so will be able to ask him for his advice - thanks for your opinion on Seabond J9PUR, it's probably not for me then.
I use Polygrip Ultra Wernets Denture Fixative Powder which I find does the job - but I only have a small plate with one tooth
