3 questions. I've just bought an telly with intergrated digital, is there anyway i can get my video to tune in the extra channels? I've noticed sometimes that the picture seems to blur and parts of the picture also breaks up into little boxes, a bit like when you see reports by satellite on the news going wrong. Is this an anomaly with digital or is my telly faulty? Finally, will a digital set top box plugged into a portable telly work and also improve the picture?
Cheers.

Okay. In answer to your questions: your VCR should pick up the digital channels shown on your TV automatically. Normally, the digital output with be through the AV output of your TV, so setting your VCR to AV (rather than Channel 1, Channel 2, etc) should enable it to record digital. Make sure your VCR is connected via SCART leads too.

The picture can break up on digital tv quite often, although, it shouldn't be doing it as often as it appears to be happening to you! Make sure you've got the best quality lead running from your aerial socket to your TV, a gold plated one will improve the signal drastically. If it's still as bad, you may have a problem with the TV.

A digital top box will only work properly on a portable TV, if the TV is connected to a roof top aerial - rather than the usual built-in wire aerial. A set-top box should work on any TV, so long as it is connected in this way.

Thanks Don. Appreciate all the info.
Just wanted to add that I have 2 digi boxes (one in lounge, one in bedroom) and they're both plugged in to a telly that has a standard little arial sitting on the telly - no outside roof area and they work perfectly well. Picture is clear as anything and a huge improvement to not having the digibox as we often had to move the arial around when switching channels. The telly in our bedroom is a little 14 inch and as long as your telly has got a scart input there shouldn't be any probs. I don't know if you can connect a digibox without using scart
And with my digital TV with Freeview - when I video a freeview channel I have to leave the TV on that channel - so I cannot record freeview and watch another channel! And if I am out when the programme is on I want to video I have to leave the TV physically on - and not just on standby. As DonQuixote says - set your video to AV and you will be able to record it

I was thinking of getting a set top box for my daughter's room so that sounds promising Happy-face. Now I just need to figure how to set the video to AV. Thanks.
