Have noticed recently auntiebertie you are concerned that correspondents do not utilise google. I have been the same, it is frustrating as although AB is a good site the other option is so much quicker isn't it?

The answer is Glidden in 1874 in America. Two other men , Haish and Ellwood became interested in manufacturing barbed wire and although Haish beat Glidden with the patent it is widely accepted that Glidden was the inventor.


Barb Wire became an integral part of the range wars that occurred just after the American Civil War
