My friend is expecting, but her very mother is set on her grandchild having a "christian" name (by this i mean a first name with a christian origin). However, while thinking to myself, surely names in the bible are Jewish? Does anyone know any nice christian names for boys and girls, if there are any?

Aw, was that an attempt to be funny?

There's always ONE who thinks they are oh so amusing. YAWN.
My son's name is Elijah.  It's turned out to be very fitting for him.  His older sister has a hard time with it though, so his nickname is "ya-ya" :)
My little boys name is Isaac, I wanted a biblical name that you couldnt shorten, but people call him Izzy or eyes.
You pick the name but please remember that your child has to live with it for the rest of their life.
The reason for having a saints name is so your child will have a patron saint to watch over him/her.  In our family, my mother said it was tradition to have at least one girl named a version of Mary.  My oldest daughter's middle name is Marie in consession to that tradition.  She turned out well.
Im not really a bible person but i think that should be her choice not her mums! What about james,andrew,peter,paul/ i like keiran but i think thats Irish.
