cos' the one who plays prue just up and left, they made it up, it was not actually part of the show and just had to be guessed. who ever sent in the link to the episode guide, needs to get it right before publishing!

Shannen Doherty left between series 3 and 4. Series 3 ended with both Prue and Piper injured and unconscious after a demon attack. When series 4 started Piper was OK but Prue was dead. The explanation given was that Leo was able to heal Piper but not Prue because while Piper was just unconscious, Prue was dead and he can't heal the dead. The demons name was Shax.

Prue was killed in the last episode of season three. The sisters had been exposed about their powers, so they used a demon to turn back time leaving Phoebe stuck in the underworld and leaving Prue and Piper in a fight with Shax (demon), ending up with them being hurled out the window, lying there bleeding, with no help.

Shax has the ability to turn back time - and i know in the season finale, they got him to turn back time and i'm sure it went into that personal gain thing. But Shax was vanquished before they could turn the clock back to save prue. I'm pretty sure Barbas had some underlying cause behind it all too. Smugbabe is wrong because shax can't turn back time. Tempus was the demon that turned back time (he was the demon that kept turning back time in the season 2 finale where Andy died).

she died when a demon called shax killed her when they were exposed to the media for using witchraft on him (at the end of the episode we see prue lying in a pool of blood, piper beside her, and we do not know who dies until the first episode of series four where we see piper + phoebe crying and piper trying to bring back her dead sister). we never actually see her dead. tada!! (yes i am sad)
