Through reasons of her own - my sister only has incoming calls on her land phone and that is it. She makes all of her other calls on the mobile then turns off mobile.

However, she being is tortured pretty much 12 hours a day with phone calls from a mentally-challenged woman and this woman texts about 20 texts a day.

Nobody can get through to her (my sister) she won't pick up in case it is this girl. So lets the phone ring and does 1471 finds out and rings the latest caller up.

I have told her to get her number unblocked both on mobile and landline - no, sister doesn't want to that cos she fond of the woman's parents.

Can she get a caller display phone and remain paying what she does now - I know do you pay a few pence a month re Call Display. What exactly would happen anybody know TIA

Zacs master you have been reading my mind - that is what I truly meant. You see guys - we don't use the mobile-type landline phone - we use the big ugly phones of yesteryear - her and I both do.
I wouldn't want to read your mind Conne. I'd have to go to confession. And I ain't even a Roman Candle.

For Wolfie - reading your reply - you have hit it on the nail - no - the sister obviously wouldn't be entitled to Caller ID - as she makes absolutely no calls on the landline "incoming package" wouldn't allow her anyway.

Wolfie's answer - It is free with BT but you have to make 2 chargeable calls a month or its costs £2 a month or £6 a quarter.

Have suggested to my sister to get this woman's no blocked from her phone and mobile and she still keeps saying she doesn't want to hurt the said -mentally-challenged woman's mother and father. So I say sure you only hear from them about 3-6 times a years - also this mentally-ill woman has a brother who was a friend to my sister's dead son) who lives in Galway and visits my sister every 3-4 months too - -this woman when on the mobile when texting - she professes undying love for my sister (I call them two lessies) altho it's not funny - Sister is 70 years - no wonder she is getting cramps from the stress of these bloody calls.

Zacs - if you entered and read my mind - you would only see the purest form of a flower. LOL
I think I'd be getting more than cramp if was faced with that buggers muddle!

From what you've said managing the calls is just the tip of the iceberg :-(

There is a much more complicated problem to be resolved here and the phone isn't necessarily the place to start.
Ok Conne, so the house phone is a problem if she can't get caller display,
But she can stop the calls and txts on the mobile by either blocking the number, or by changing her number.
That way the Mum and Dad can still get your sis on the landline if they need her, but your Sis will have peace on the mobile. X

Not a perfect solution but it stops ALL the calls and texts on one phone at least. X
She should either sort the problem out with the nuisance caller or get people she wants to talk to to use a code - maybe call, let it ring three times, hang up and ring again.

Thanks guys - for your patient answers - I want to scream at her (sister) of a Sunday re (getting ill lady's number blocked) but me personally even though my sister can hold her own - she doesn't even want to hurt the "let's call her the "ill" person = either the ill person knows better than her and uses emoticons - and after ill person has sent a devious text goes (.......) or Gawd something like - dopey sister says oh that means the end of a sentence no I say she means something with it. Like I said my sister's has ended giving up smoking went cold turkey about 1 year ago - suffers from tension headaches - bad high blood pressure and lately cramps in the back of her legs etc etc - but if you were to meet her she comes across as is as easy-going as you like - but when it came to all the problems that we have in our family - alcohol, gambling, death from starvation. IT WAS ME THAT HAD TO BE THERE FOR IT ALL - sorry!!! She fell apart. - she would say to us "I am great" never suffer from nothin. But meanwhile still handling the death of her beloved only child she lost 7 years ago through a drowning - she needs this like a hole in the head.

I know where they are live and I would love to go to the house and tell the parents very gently what is happening. If I did my sister would never ever speak to me again telling me it is none of my business. As OPs - you're damned if you and damned if you don't.

My sister also believe that this "ill" person - ie can't through to my sister may take a hand on her life. God I Jaysus where now. Ill person has 5 sister 3brs
her (0n her own ) without her son
Me (on my own too ) so we try to help each other altho am beginning to think that my aanswer are falling to deaf hears. So I am going to leave it cos believe me I ( if my sister ever were to know my problems that happened in 2011
Can BT not block calls from the number she is being called from ?
Yes.
tell her to go to buy a very cheap mobile and get a new sim card -
set this phone up as Pay as you go
then text the woman from this new number saying that her old number is being cut off or has been lost as of today and that this (new number) is going to be her new phone number from now on
also tell her the landline is getting cut off too (if she has to explain just say its the cost)

block this womans number from the original phone so she cant get through and will believe its cut off - and just let this woman text and ring the other phone as much as she chooses - which is of course on silent - or even off - in a drawer somewhere

she should put £10 credit on it just in case she ever has to respond
