The Halifax Clarity card makes no charges for using it to get cash (out of an ATM) abroad, but you are charged interest form the time of the transaction. Would it be possible to pre-load the Clarity account with funds up to the amount you expect to need on holiday and thereby avoid paying charges completely?

It's against the Terms and Conditions of the card - and Halifax say that they may block the use of the card if this is done.

The most cost effective thing to do is make a complete payment by internet banking transfer on the same day that each cash withdrawal or purchase is made.

Even if you don't (or can't) do this, it is still a very cheap card to use abroad.
