It's a bit late to ask if you have already purchased it.

As for a good buy, that depends on the condition of the vehicle, the extent of the warrenty and if your happy with it.

For future reference have a HPI check and ask the AA/RAC to check it out (or a friend with the knowledge).

Parkers list it from 2150 to 3755.

well I have put 250 deposit down the car it is in very good condition, the warrenty is for electrics and if the engine goes wrong, not disk brakes, wear and tear etc... It has had Hp in the past and the garage said they paid it off and showed me recepit.
Then it sounds like a good buy. Lucky you...

many thanks for your help it was just what I needed to hear my car at moment is playing up, its a mondeo auto 2.0 16v on a p and the reverse gear has stopped working. All the other gears are fine but they do change down with a hard jerk at the end

lynn, a receipt of finance payment is not proof that the garage have no further interest in the car (interest means finance) - get a HPI done to confim that the finance has been settled (no further interest from garage). Trust me, I run a company fleet and this can be a major problem.

If there is still outstanding finance, get the garage to clear it and get the finance co to fax a no interest certificate as proof. If the garage have cleared the finance then they should actually be showing you a certificate from the finance co and not a receipt. Better safe than sorry!

Hi spaced if it turns out the car is paid off and everything is ok is this a good but. And how do i do a hpi

you can always ask the vendor which finance company it was with, then call the finance company. Give them the reg, tell them your buying it and ask if there is any "interest in the car" or is all outstanding finance settled. This will save you doing a HPI. This is if the garage will give you the details of the finance company.

HPI online - http://www.hpicheck.com/newfrontend/hpi_check.jsp

This costs 39.95 and tells you if the car has outstanding finance, ever been stolen, ever been written off and rebuilt etc etc

let me know how you get on

I rang th garage and they said what they showed me was a hpi fax through from the insurance company and there is no interest or payments left on car, they gave me the number and name of the company but i coould not get intouch with them as they ask for date of birth i had the ref number for car but they needed birth date for security. But lets say this is real and the car isnt owing is it a good buy.

i've got a 51 plate406 1.8 blinding car for comfort and being a car. not exciting ( but i have a motorbike for that.)

if it's done 45000m then it might be worth renewing the cambelt just to be safe.

have a look about and see how many are used as minicabs, all those cabbies can't be wrong.

try and knock a few quid off the price as it has been replaced by the 407

Question Author
Tried knocking him down and he is having no of it, it only came with 3 months warrenty but he put 12 months on instead. I think I could have got it for 200 less but I would only have got the 3 months warrenty. The car i have now does not drive in reverse automatic tranmission has gone. I bought it for 600 7 months ago, I was taking it to scrap yard but got offered 50 for it so I said have it. 50 is better then me paying someone 30 to take it away.
