i have very friable skin on my legs owing to circulation problem and the meds i take. over the last three nights i have woken up with intense itching on the top of my feet and ankles. I can't describe how maddening this itching is, it drives me quite insane. I try to resist scratching because i realise that that's no good for my rubbish skin but have on a few occasions succumbed. The relief (which is almost orgasmic) is short lived (seconds at most) before the itching starts again. Help!
1) what could it be and 2) apart from scratch, what can i do about it?
no new drugs or new packets, no new detergents or shower gels, no new shoes, and happens if my legs are hot or cold

I have itchy legs and feet sometimes caused by varicose eczema. I think we talked about this before .Make sure you slap plenty of emollient on your legs to keep the skin soft .I use Oilatum .Soothes the skin and stops the itching .Lanacane is good and also Eurax on the very itchy bits .

I have no idea what's causing it bednobs but calamine lotion might help relieve the itching

Not a particularly good orgasm...;-)

Being serious..........are you itching between the toes? is there an offence odour to your feet?

I am thinking fungal.

no none of the above - the itching is on top of my feet and around my ankles. Nothing to see either. I can't describe the agony of it!
Sorry bednobs...that's my lot.
It could be a form of Dermatitis connected with your circulation issues.
There is an advert popped up below your question saying something called magicool plus abolishes itching.
I can't think of any cause apart from those already mentioned,
but piriton tablets and some Lanacaine cream should give you relief almost immediately. X

You aren't pregnant are you?
I had the same problem many years ago, but i was pregnant at the time, the clinic just called it pregnancy rash. X
Bednobs...I get it occasionally and I'm not on meds and don't have any medical issues.

I end up itching myself raw.

Try an antihistamine cream
And also slother your ankles in vaseline oetroleum jelly - dry skin may be making the itch.
I had this for a while and it did pass; I ended up scratching one foot with the other heel, making a nasty hole in my foot and needing antibiotics to stop it going septic! The feet apparently are slow healers so do watch out that any damage you to them could end up with quite a nasty infection and (in my case) scar.
