Search for paintings of a particular theme...

Hey, does anybody know of any websites where I can search for paintings/photographs/other pictures of a certain idea/theme/stimulus? For example if I wanted to look at picture that was based on an emotion such as jealousy. Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks!

Well one way to find a few is to go to yahoo home page or google and select 'images' and type the word jealousy ... I would imagine this would work for any word

I would do this but I was just using that subject as an example, the actual subject is competition and competitiveness. When I entered these on google image search it came up with tones of random pictures hat were the winners of painting competitions which isn't very useful to me!

if competition brings you unwanted results, try synonyms like rivalry or contest or compete

lady_p_gold - sorry, didn't mean to sound ungrateful for your help. I just meant that the pictures that came up weren't very useful to me- not your advice.

tricky... I suppose Renaissance pictures of the Judgment of Paris might fit the bill (classical beauty contest), or there are occasional works by all sorts of painters depicting battles. Leonardo and Michelangelo once worked on rival murals of Florentine battles, so you have competition in the set-up as well as in the subject matter. (Neither of them survives, only studies and sketches.)
