... then you could watch a high-wire walker, Nik Wallenda, cross the Grand Canyon without a safety net. It's live on the Discovery Channel or you can watch online here:-

Well Nik Wallenda is walking. One step per appeal to "Jesus" and "The Lord". Looks a bit windy up there. That helicopter is making me both airsick and nervous. Last think he wants is air disturbance.

Without a safety net?!
Question Author
and also without a harness
Sounds a bit of a nutter. Will probably watch it though ( through my fingers)

The Wallendas are a well-known family of tightrope-walkers, going back over several generations.
Nope! I am so scared of heights that I can't even look at something like this on TV, I have been covering my eyes if the advert came on when I was in the lounge and oh had tele on.
I might attempt to watch it, but like Daffy, I also have a fear of heights and find that even if something high is on TV, I find it very difficult to watch. I was reading something about this in the paper the other day, and they say that the worst bit about the crossing is the wind - now that is scarey!
Oh i wish i had seen it. I clicked on the link and it said its not available in my area.Ive been to the Grand Canyon so i know how risky this is!
It's got 10hrs 35mins to go, but although it's saying that it's not available yet, I imagine we'll be able to see the actual walk on that site, won't we?

Georgiesmum - try searching for discovery channel to find the version of their website appropriate for your location; it would be surprising if they don't provide the live streaming everywhere.
Apparently it's going to be shown 10 seconds behind time in case anything happens.

Haven't see it but the balloon jump is still the most incredible "stunt" of the century so far

Hope you enjoyed it, methyl.

It was quite ironic that on the news just now the item about this walk, showing him giving thanks to his deity for letting him safely cross the canyon, was immediately after the report from India about 1000 people dying in the floods; presumably that deity reckons that they don't matter compared to someone doing a stunt.
