if you don't hold a British passport you will need a visa, and if you're seeking asylum rather than having British resident status, it is best to stay where you are. If you leave the country you will put your asylum seeking status in jeopardy.
If you are an asylum seeker in the home territories of the United Kingdom, and if you leave those territories before you have been granted residence, then you will greatly jeopardise your asylum application. This applies to you regardless of your intended destination. For the purpose of this answer, all European Union (EU) states, all European Economic Area (EEA) states, all European Free Trade Association (EFTA) states, and all UK overseas territories are out of bounds. In short: DON'T DO IT.
