Have you noticed how difficult it is to UNSUBSCRIBE from these wretched nuisance e-mails. The link to do so is usually there but I can never get it to work.

Mark as Spam. All future messages from the sender will go to Spam folder and eventually be deleted.
All that clicking unsubscribe does (in most cases) is tell the spammer that they reached a real person, hence you are likely to get even more spam.
AAAAGHH!!!!!!

You appear to be doing the one thing that you should NEVER do!

Spammers send out millions of messages, often to addresses which are purely guessed at. (e.g. they'll send mail to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] and so on, knowing that many of them will fail to be delivered - because no such addresses exist - but that some will make it through). If you click 'unsubscribe' on such an email, you're confirming that your address is a valid one and effectively inviting the spammers to send you thousands more spam messages!

You should only click on 'unsubscribe' if the messages are from a reliable source. e.g. I get advertising mail from Ryanair, easyJet, P&O Ferries, etc. I wouldn't be worried about clicking on 'unsubscribe' where messages are from such companies. (If such companies failed to take note of me clicking 'unsubscribe', I'd contact their Customer Services departments directly).

But, I repeat, you should NEVER click on 'unsubscribe' in random spam!!!

Thanks for your advice.
Try an account with yahoo. You never see the spam unless you deliberately click on it and it is automatically deleted each month Think Googlemail does the same thing and I guess there are others.
DSJ i replied to a question from you in genealogy from a while ago about Hinckley? only spotted it in the related posts bit last night
Question Author
Thanks, seadogg, I already have an account with Yahoo & am now transferring the unwanted e-mails to my spam folder.
Question Author
Thank you, Dot. I have printed off all the new info & added it to my Hinckley file.
