My friend suffers from a hiatus hernia. The following foods aggravate it:

wheat, dairy, tomatoes, garlic, marmite, chilis and spices.

Could anyone suggest any meal ideas that don't involve any of those things? Thanks very much!!!!

I have a haitus hernia, but it is controlled by medication - one 40mg tab. a day, and i can eat anything with no ill effects.

I suggest your friend has a chat with his or her GP, and get some treatment - or, if it is really seriously making life miserable, the simple operation to repair it.

I would agree with the above post. I have been dairy and wheat free, but that naturally leaves you with tomato-based foods like curry, chilli etc. You could make things like macaroni cheese with wheat-free pasta and non-dairy sauce, but it is a bit grim.

Find out about getting the operation and getting it sorted.

p.s You can get wheat free rye bread from holland and barrett which is nice toasted. You could have this with honey or houmous. Also porridge oats made with soya milk and honey. You could have oat cakes with peanut butter or houmous or mushroom spread, plus they fill you up. Most supermarkets do a shelf with wheat and dairy free food. Your friend can luckily still have potatoes, rice, fish, chicken, and vegetables, which you can make a lot of stuff with.(Roast dinner, for example!)
