i have recently started using firefox, however when i start up my computer it opens internet explorer. i have made firefox my default browser but it makes no difference. i don't want to uninstall IE as i need it for microsoft office updates . any ideas please

On firefox, try going to Tools -> Opions and then click the Check Now box.
If IE is running as soon as Windows starts, it suggests that there's a reference to it in your StartUp folder. The path to this folder, in Windows ME, is C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up. (It should be fairly similar in most other versions of Windows).

Take a look. If there's a shortcut to IE in this folder, simply delete it.

thanks for suggestions but i finally just unchecked "launch internet explorer on startup" from options of my broadband connection start up. didn't realise it was there . duh!
