Can anyone please direct me to an internet link for a good close-up image (perhaps even a diagram) of the way a roof bar is fitted to the roof of a VW Golf2 (late model) - I have no access to such a vehicle at present but need to know before deciding to buy something said to fit. What I need to understand is how it is attached to the edge of the roof and how it rests to transfer the weight/load to the roof. Thanks in advance.

Thule are v good roof bars. It would seem that whether it's a 3 door or 5 door makes some difference.

Zacs, all I see from that link is a static page that is not related to the Golf2. I am not looking for a product, I am looking for the fixing metod/detail because I am already being offered something that I need to be sure will fit.

Good luck with that.
Does this help?

It's looks as if they fit very similar to how my Renault Scenic roof bars fit. A pad sits on the roof body and the "hooks" tighten under the top of the door opening.
