I currently have an Epson Stylus D92 printer, costing at the time of purchase £45, if I remember correctly. However this cheap printer is completely not on the cheap side after all since the ink for this printer sets you back at near £30, almost the same cost to buy a new printer. I have just placed new ink in the printer and after 53 pages, the ink needs replaced? (Printed only 3 pictures amidst black & white writing). I cannot afford the running of the printer. May I add the quality of the printer is not good.

What printers do all you guys have that you would recommend? Or avoid?

Printers nowadays are made as you say, just as cheap to throw the printer away and buy a new one!
Unless you are printing photos for archival purposes (and so need the very best permanent ink) you should consider buying OEM (non epson) ink.

I buy from these suppliers and am happy with their ink :

yea I realised. I was wondering however if there was a good quality one, that runs cheaper on ink? and ideally produces lettering that is of a higher standard than the cheap one I have! x

wow, SD thats cheap ink like! Does it last long though? x
It's OK - last at least as long as the original epson carts.

It may not be quite as stable for long term storage - but for day-to-day it's fine.
I use this: http://www8.hp.com/uk...ail.html?oid=4052978. Works perfectly.
I have an HP e-printer which seems to drink ink. WHy do people print off their own pics with the price of ink etc? I've had 50 prints for about £2 from a few places as "introductory offers", lots do it and I think I could get more done before I need to change email addresses.
I buy Epson compatible from Cartridge World. Approx half price and no problems so far.
Just buy a professional quality printer, the ink tanks are far bigger and also cheaper. I choose Epson every time!!
I have a 4 year old HP printer which can be a bit tempermental due to age, but I wanted you to know I use compatible HP ink cartridges which are really great, they last for ages and I print lots of photos ................ try Ink Power

Darn it! I've just discovered that bestpriceink, where I normally get my Epson compatible cartridges, has ceased trading! :o(

That's a real shame because I'd get six full sets of cartridges (36 in total) for around 30 quid. They were Pro-jet cartridges which I always found to be very reliable and just as good as the more expensive Epson originals. Never mind, I have enough to be going on with for the time being.
Johann Froben was a pretty good printer.
If you are unhappy with the print quality, then it might be worth looking at some of the 'free printer' offers on this site - you buy several sets of cartridges & they throw in the printer free ...

I've used them in the past - they seem pretty straight - the printers tend to be 'last years model' but there's no problem with that if you read the reviews on amazon to check for any problems.
