The taps are missing from the valve under my sink and I wondered if it's possible to buy just these taps or if I buy a complete valve, l can I use the taps that come with it with the existing valve I already have.

Don't want to have to replace that if I can help it but I need the taps to isolate the waster from the washing machine.

I'm afraid this is hard to understand Maggie.
Do you mean the handles (the red and blue bits)

Yes to both of you. I was married to a plumber for 40yrs so feel a bit stupid asking this question . I just wondered if the plastic bits would fit the valve that is already there. I don't want to pay out to have the whole thing replaced.

Failing that a spanner seems the idea. Thanks.
or pliers maggie, worked for me!
Are you sure they ever had the plastic bits, and they're not an in-line tap with a slot for a screwdriver to fit into to turn them?
Baldric just beat me to it. I have those to isolate the kitchen sink taps with a screwdriver when I want to change the washers. I also have the red and blue handles on the isolating valves for the washing machine. One did break some time ago and I took the bits to a plumbing trade supplier and he was able to replace it for a few pence. Good luck with yours.
