can you lose weight by doing low impact exercise like using weights and yoga without doing cardiovascular exercises? I don't quite understand how you lose weight, what happens to the fat when doing low impact exercise?

well what do you think happens to the fat when your doing high impact exercises then!

the chances are your not going to lose weight through weight training. lets say your eating exactly the same amount of calories as your burning up, so your maintaining your weight as it is. if you then started weight training, you would be burning more calories than you were before so would expect to lose weight. BUT, weight training builds muscle and muscle is 3 times heavier than fat, so you could expect to see your weight rise.

you lose fat deposits by burning more calories than you eat, cardiovascular exercise burns a lot of calories hence its good for losing weight (as long as your diet is sorted too) the best time for cardio exercise is first thing in the morning before breakfast, this exercise should be gentle so you dont burn muscle rather thsn fat, and it raises your metabolism for the rest of the day, hence you burn more calories.
