Mother In Law Relationship Issue

Hi
I have a tricky mother in law relationship issue. For more than 4 years I have supported my mother in law on demand with all sorts of things:

1. Detailed financial advice
2. House buying
3. Moving house
4. Computer (IT) support
5. Holidays
6. etc

At times this has required many hours. She thanks me every time but on several occasions has disregarded my advice and then got into trouble, asked for help in a semi panicked state without acknowledging that she should have followed my advice. Apparently she is the same with other people…
How is it best to deal with this? On the one hand I want to help but I have very little time and I don’t want it thrown back in my face again… My wife just thinks I should help whatever the circumstances

Thanks
J

Just stop giving her your time and advice. If she is getting it wrong on every occasion, she'll soon learn she isn't always 'right'.

Yes as long as it doesn't dip deeply into your pockets then help out. She will probably never change but it will keep her and your wife happy. She probably isn't actually throwing it back in your face but unable to think rationally and does unadvised things on the spur of the moment. Im sure she is truly grateful.
just remember, you cannot control what other people do or don't do, you can only control what you yourself do.
Your wedding is an exciting time in your life, but can be physically en emotionally exhausting as well. Most of us get along with our groom's mother, but some are not that lucky. This is a time where even the bride and mother in law that do have a beautiful relationship, ends up in conflict.
