Avast And Photoshop

Oh, now this is a bit of a pain. I just went to open Photoshop to scan a document and Avast popped up to block it, claimed it had found a virus. I submitted the 'false positive' report... and in the meantime Photoshop has disappeared from my Start menu and desktop. That was, er, unexpected.
Is this what Avast usually does?

You can probably open the Avast Virus vault and restore it.

Annoying - it doesn't work. I even got Avast to scan Photoshop from within the vault and the result was 'no virus'. Clicked 'restore' - nothing. Have even done a system restore. Photoshop reappeared but got blocked again, and clicking to add it to the ignore list does nothing.
I suppose it's always possible that there is a virus that infects PS. But, if it were me, I'd uninstall Avast, install Microsoft Security Essentials, then reinstall PS.
Try to scan the image before you open it. That should give you more of an idea on what's/which prog is to blame.
Is your version of PS bought or "borrowed"?
If the latter, let me hazard a guess that the 'rogue' file is amt.dll ?
