Hi All

I have known that my laptop battery was on its way out for ages, however, today it has stopped charging completely and the power button is flashing red.

I can use the laptop with the mains lead in, but my question is, could this cause a problem? Should I remove the battery completely and just leave the mains lead in?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

I have a toshiba and i have been using it for at least 4 years with a dead battery and plugged into the mains without damage.
I do know that some laptops wont work if you try that and remove the battery so i have just left my battery in.

Check out ebay for a replacement Chick,
You could try Amazon for a battery. I got one for my Dell over a year ago for £15. Dell wanted 8 times that!

Thanks for your replies all.

I bought a new battery from ebay for my Dell Inspiron.
It was okay for a few months and then only held about an hours worth of charge, so I have left it on the mains.

As long as it works for longer, can't afford a new one at the mo!
Did you charge it as per the instructions Chick? 3hrs, then run the laptop untill it's just about flat, recharge then do the same again.
