funny question I guess but hey...I started singing lessons last night and have to pick a song for next time that I'd like to sing and learn properly. I'm female in my 40's and don't want to pick anything too adventurous or something I'll get fed up of quickly. Any ideas and what would you pick?

Something by Dusty Springfield is always a good bet.

Good Luck!

Try "One Fine Day"
It's been recorded by many ladies but my favourite version is by Natalie Merchant.
Beautiful song.
Why singing lessons? Has it also been an ambition?
Good luck

I'm a female who can sing certain tunes spot-on, and others not so much. It's a matter of range, I guess. If you're just beginning, I'd suggest a song that doesn't have too many extremelyh high or low notes - maybe "You're So Vain" or "Harden My Heart" or "One Way or Another."

Good luck!

troot- it's a mid-life crisis I guess! In the past four months I've started drama classes and just started working out at the gym! Yep, something I've wanted to try for a while so if not now when? That's what I say! Keep the answers coming everyone and thanks.
well done for starting singing! what music do you like? classical, jazz, pop? what do you sing in the shower? My favourite song to sing at the moment is Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, or a sweeter version by Jeff Buckley. I know they're men but I'm a girl and I can sing it! Also, consider where your voice is pitched. One fine Day is beautiful but no point trying to master it if you're a contralto!
