Bioshock Infinite: Not Bad But Considering The Previous Games, Disappointing.

I'm playing BI and although I haven't finished it yet (Elizabeth's mum has risen from the grave and I'm looking for the three tears) I am finding it a bit disappointing considering its heritage.

I loved the original and the sequel. The underwater city of Rapture was so convincing and menacing and the inhabitants equally so, yet the floating city of Columbia doesn't give you that sense of foreboding. In fact it seems to do everything it can to break your suspension of disbelief by incorporating ludicrous mid-air leaps on the rail system which are impossible to miss.

Everything about this game seems... unsatisfying.

Anyone agree / disagree?

birdie1971 - Is there a cure to get you off them?
Question Author
Wharton -

Since you think that those who play computer games require a 'cure', I'd be very interested in hearing your views about computer games and about those people who chose to play them.
Computer games = chewing gum for the brain
Those who chose to play them = children & those with an IQ around about room temperature
Question Author
Wharton -

That's precisely what I thought your opinion was. Thank you for exposing your blind bigotry in so crystal clear a fashion! It's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Do you consider me to be intellectually sub-normal? Do you consider LazyGun to be equally mentally challenged? Or maybe you think that Triggerhippy is a drooling moron?

Please elaborate on your theory as to why you consider people who play and enjoy computer games are mentally deficient?
Is 'shooting fish in a barrel' a title for another loony computer game?
Question Author
Wharton - “...Is 'shooting fish in a barrel' a title for another loony computer game?...”

Not to my knowledge.

Nor is it an obviously transparent way to attempt to divert attention away from the fact that you've just displayed an enormous amount of stupidity, ignorance and bigotry. In case you missed it, I asked you a quite specific question. I'll ask it again just so there's no confusion - Why do you consider people who play and enjoy computer games to be mentally deficient?
I'll own up to stupidity and ignorance but never bigotry birdie. I don't consider people who play and enjoy computer games to be mentally deficient, I see them more like people who bet on horseracing, not too bright.
.....and I'll bet you've had a bet on a horse before.
Question Author
So you're now saying that I'm not mentally deficient just 'not too bright'.

Please can you explain the difference between these two cognitive states?
-- answer removed --
birdie1971 - cognitive science - the study of cognition including aspects of psychology and 'artificial intelligence' (amongst other things).

triggerhippy - for 'too timid' insert 'too intelligent'.

all others (including you birdie1971) - I intended no offence. My preferred game is chess and I have a world ranking. It's 5 figures, somewhere between 10,000 and 99,999 - :-)
Chess? That's the one with prawns and horsies and bishops and stuff?

I am too impatient and probably too intellectually impaired to play it properly :)

I do like console games though as an pleasant distraction. I rarely bet on the horsies, although I do go to race meets, mostly because I still ride and have friends in that world - but I do own up to playing micro-stakes poker :)
I find it odd how gaming inspires such derision, condemnation and even hatred from non-gamers (is it the word 'game' maybe?). Gaming can be anything from a casual pastime to a full time career as the very best can make quite a decent living out of certain games nowadays e.g. I watched the CoD world champs on Xbox live last weekend and the winning team of 5 won $600,000.

For me I could spend a few hours watching TV or I could play some videogames and I would much rather play games than watch programmes which I have no real interest in. Either way its my choice and I feel no need to defend that choice. I would never dare to question someone else's passion or hobby.

Triggerhippy -

Finished BI. I now understand why it's called 'Infinite'. Very clever. I thought the whole thing had a 'Vanilla Sky' aspect to it with a dash of 'Inception' for good measure.

You were quite correct to advise me to reserve judgement until the end. The ending has made the whole game retrospectively better.
Question Author
Wharton - “... all others (including you birdie1971) - I intended no offence...”

Pardon me but that's complete horse manure. You quite quite explicitly said that people who play computer games have, “... an IQ around about room temperature...” and that they are, “... not too bright...”?

If I were you I'd just say I was sorry rather than try to weasel out of a series of insulting and ill-informed posts.
Ok birdie1971, I'll just say that I'm sorry, no hard feelings. My friend (she deals with people with gambling problems and other such like addictions like computer games), has told me to stop referring to them as 'nutters', and on her advice I shall do so. Therefore you are no longer a nutter. I bet you reply to this.
Question Author
↑ “... you are no longer a nutter. I bet you reply to this...”

You leave me little choice really. Not content with calling me and others mentally deficient, you're now retrospectively calling me a computer game 'addict' and a 'nutter'. Quite frankly, you're getting more insulting with every reply you post. Why don't you up the ante and call me something really insulting?
You're an English Tory who didn't have the balls to object to the poll tax being introduced (illegally) to Scotland a year before the rest of the UK.
Question Author
↑ You really are the end of a bell aren't you?
This is like the Gossage-Vardebedian Papers.
