did he say anything about the Labour lot, or was it just the Tories he was having a go at.
Just the Tories
No he shouldn't. His political views are obviously his own not the police's. what he said was distasteful but not illegal.

Contrary to the current media hype, Mrs T was unpopular with public sector workers. And his views on Cameron chime with Police Morale being very low currently.
funny because it was her that gave these guys a decent wage. Yes he should be sacked, we have the right to expect more from a police officer. In fact I have serious reservations about anyone getting involved in these websites.
This must be tough one for the rabid left, they hate plod of course and of course they hate MrsT. Is the enemy of your enemy your friend? Tricky one comrades!
Yes I think he should be sacked. It can't be ignored now his remarks are out there and its not the sort of thing that I expect to hear from someone from the police. But honestly I think some people need to get their brain into gear before spouting off on twitter.
I'll give him one thing though, at least he was around when the unions where wrecking the country although he seems to have missed what was going on somehow!
He has just resigned.

On BBC News 1 minute ago HE'S RESIGNED
Police officers are supposed to be mature people who are able to make objective decisions. Whatever Sergeant Scott’s views of Mrs Thatcher, to say that he hoped an 87 year old woman suffered a degrading and painful death suggests his judgement is not as sound as it might be. He also suggested that the world would be a ‘better place’ if David Cameron, too, were dead. Like it or not, police officers are expected to demonstrate higher standards than would be expected of those in many other professions. The fact that his remarks may not cross the line of criminality is not relevant.

I know it is always recommended that the police force (sorry, “service”) should be representative of the society it serves. Well this is what happens when that recommending is realised.

BTW, just heard that Sgt Scott has resigned.
Well thats solved that problem then...
I think he has taken the only option available , in order to minimise the impact on himself .
i.e , he keeps his pension .
i heard that he resigned, does it mean he keeps his pension....
Hmm, I'd be willing to bet he keeps his pension. Whereas if he'd been sacked he'd probably have lost it.

People without brains really shouldn't be allowed on Twitter or Facebook - but then anyone with at least half a brain probably doesn't go on there anyway.

Providing they are left views it would seem.

I wonder what your reaction would had been if he had openly made anti-Europe, anti immigration, comments and was also a member of a far right wing organisation?

Now waiting for those two far-left teachers to resign, but I won't be holding my breath.
yes twenty, bang on
Those with only half a brain just come on here and moan about facebook and twitter and "the evils of social media" :)
I know this probably won't be read by many people since this thread has run its course but just as a point of fact – a police officer cannot be 'sacked'. Strange but true.
