How strict a dress code do Jordanians have and how do I and my daughter dress so as not to cause offence? Are short sleeved t shirts OK?

Dress code is strict when entering a mosque and your daughter should cover up arms, legs and cover her hair. Anywhere else short sleeved t-shirts are fine
When entering a mosque, they hand out hooded cloaks to women who they think are not dressed properly, but it is better to be prepared as LF says. Men are not checked. Occasionally in smaller towns, older people give disapproving looks at bare legs etc., but this is only their opinion, and Western dress is OK.
Of course I meant as thugulike says.
