How bitter and twisted is Jane McDonald on today's loose women. She used to be one of my favourite singers but not anymore. The subject is mainly Margaret Thatcher and the hate is on her face even when she is not talking.

Not happy with any tax but better than the poll tax!
The problem with the poll tax is that it was a one size fits all, the rate was fixed irrespective of personal circumstances. However, I don't think it's fair that a single person, or a couple, should pay the same amount for public services as the family of, say, 6 living in a similar property. The fairer solution lay somewhere in the middle.
Agree wimp.

The poll tax was a very fair tax as it was an individual tax. Surely it was fairer that 4 people living in a house should be paying 4 times as much tax as a pensioner person on their own.
If it was such a 'fair' tax why did it cause mass riots ???
Jane is more qualified than most to make, what I believe to be an informed opinion on Margaret Thatcher.
She was brought up as a daughter of a miner and sister to one too. So the opinion voiced by her is one of a person that was DIRECTLY affected by the policies of The Iron Lady.
..........and one that I wholeheartily agree with !
Hear hear scol1
poll tax was a fair tax.....................oh my!

Being a miner meant you lived on average 10 years less than other people . Is it not great that the mining industry is nearly finished(the largest mine left in Britain is just about to close) and all these people will have ten years more life. At one time i in 10 people in the UK worked down the mines. Incidentely coal mines have been closing since the end of the second world war and more closed under Harold Wilson than ever did under Margaret Thatcher.
I see today Jane Macdonald was trying to goad Joan Collins into an argrument about Margaret Thatcher but Joan was a bit to cute for her
