Does anyone agree with me that anyone convicted of child abuse should be castrated or steralized.

maybe, also the one i posted a link to. Imagine having to fight for years to get your child back, in the knowledge you had never harmed them, not in a million years, it's a nightmare scenario.

Like most of the others, I think that castration/sterilisation is not the way to go.

Others have given some very strong reasons, but for me, the issue is that if someone has a mind to abuse a child either physically or sexually (especially sexually), I doubt whether fear of punishment would actually prevent them the act.

Paedophiles must know that if they are caught, the will lose their jobs, family, postion in life, freedom etc - but it doesn't stop them.

Would castration?

Doubt it.

There is also the aspect of those who use images or videos of abuse - having their bits chopped off doesn't stop them watching that or the fact that in order for them to get the images and such in the first place abuse has to be going on elsewhere.

well really, the law, the proper law, was started as a way to stop this kind of vigilante, lynch mob type 'justice'.

it was evident that too many people were dying and being hurt by overly emotional irrational lynch mobs acting first and thinking later, with often flimsy evidence or rumour and gossip.

The law needs to have a logical, not an emotional stance.

asking whether we'd say the same if it was one of out own is irrelevant because we'd want him dead or maimed - but we'd still know it would be wrong to actually go and do it.
