Leaving out the god factor which religious philosophy is for you ?

I have in the past read up on all the major religions and I refute all their gods but have found some of their other beliefs, especially concerning a sixth sense , fit in with my own experience of the world. What's your's ?

So far Buddhism is the top of my list but I haven't any first hand knowledge apart from visiting the odd temple.

I can only answer 'Why what ?'

jomifl Sorry if I appeared sour , nothing personal, maybe I thought you were taking the micky. Never mind let's blame the computer.
By definition, a religious belief is held regardless of contrary evidence.

I could never take on such a prejudiced position about anything.

That's very true beso but does that mean you view all philosophies equally?

As an atheist I don't believe in any of them but some have a more gentle humane approach to life. I don't like the hell fire, theme that runs through the Abrahamic faiths. especially Islam at the moment .

Is that being prejudiced ? I suppose every opinion is a form of prejudice.
I suppose it's where you draw the line.
Modeller, I wasn't getting at you, that is why I started another thread for my rarely visited museum (not that there is much in it but I can hope ). Although I do have some sympathies with buddhism it is very similar to other religions in some respects, for example instead of sending people to a nasty place for being bad, you are reincarnated as some 'lower' creature that seems always to get a bad deal. It looks as if punishment is the main ingredient of most religions.
