I have aVauxhall Astra 1.2 Merit 1989 and the interior light doesn't always work, sometimes it works ok, sometimes it works if you hit the light, sometimes it totally refuses to work! 1) Why is this happening? 2) How do I access the bulb in the light holder, I can't get it down from the headlining

Remove the lamp by prising it away from the headlining with a screw driver. Clean the bulb and lamp contacts and slightly bend the contacts to hold the bulb more firmly.
Try unscrewing the switch in the door, cleanining it up with switch cleaner and screwing it back in tightly. I had the same problem in my cavalier.
