Ive had a couple or three large drinks. My best friend has cancer, she will not live to see the summer. I am going to see her tomorrow, and \I MUST smile , not be upset in front of her. I hope I can do it.This isnt a question, but just to be able to share on CB helps a lot. Thanks :)

I shouldn't put yourself under too much pressure to "smile". It's only natural to feel upset.

You better stay sober for your friend. Why are you so sure she won't see this summer? Miracles happen, you know. Doctors are sometimes wrong. Have faith and hope for the best.

beattie just be the loving friend you are, trying to keep emotion in is bad for both of you - if you want to hug her and weep together at the sadness of it all , then do it. Just see how the visit goes.

My heart goes out to you and of course her. ♥

Thank you MadMen, but she is a smiler, even now, so I have to "keep it together, and share her positivity"

Thanks everyone, you are such a help. I expect we will hug laugh and cry, and of course I will be sober! Every corner tells her she wont see summer, but we can hope. Im off to bed now. Thanks for helping.
Its OK to be upset, don't be anything but yourself when you see her otherwise she'll wonder who it is who's come to visit! you're more likely to find ways to cheer her up and to be less upset if you relax. Thinking of you.
Night beattie , have a good visit and make more happy memories ((HUG))

Can I have two best answers please? Maydup and Mamyalynne. Real stars of AB x
a friend of mine died from cancer a couple of aprils ago. after the first talk on how unfair life could be the best way we found to behave was to try to make every visit as good and memorable as possible. give her a hug and tell her how much you love her and then get on with the chatting and laughing. good luck to both of you. xx
try to be as normal as possible.a friend of mine, who died of cancer, said I'd been the first person to speak to her as a 'normal' person, just be sensitive & be there for your friend
